The EFP technical department is responsible for the following:

-

Intake Checks.  All raw material deliveries are checked at a rate of 2.5% which can be increased if issues are noted.  Product will be accepted or rejected at this point.

-

Pesticide Testing Programme.  All products are sampled and tested for pesticide residues.  Sampling is based on a risk assessment using parameters of country or origin, plant type, PPUF information and historical data.

-

Finished Product Checks.  Products are checked prior to despatch against customer specifications prior to being positively released

-

Quality Audit of Process Controls.  Each day all process controls of quantity control, metal detection and temperature controls are audited.

-

Customer Feedback Monitoring.  All feedback from customers, whether in the form of rejections, customer complaints or store comments are collated and trends are analysed to provide information for improvements.

-

Shelf Life Monitoring.  Samples are retained of all products for each production run and monitored each day of their stated shelf life.  Resulting trends are analysed to provide information for improvements.

-

Internal Auditing.  All internal procedures and policies are audited as part of an annual programme.  The frequency of each audit is determined by risk assessment.

-

Specifications.  All raw material specifications are generated internally based on the customer finished product specifications.  Most customer specifications are written internally using web based specification systems.

-

Supplier Auditing.  All suppliers are audited annually using specific customer audit formats or internal audit format depending on the destination of the product.  These audits include growing, processing and ETI where appropriate.

-

Supplier Approval.  Prior to supply all new suppliers must submit a valid PPUF, a recent pesticide test result and be EUREPgap or Assured Produce certified.  Membership of SEDEX is encouraged.  Organic suppliers must also be certified by a recognised certification body.
